Boston Marathon Playlist

March 30, 2011
by PageWilliams

I was a little late to the game, but at last…IT ARRIVED!

More than anything, it was a confirmation that it’s real and whether I think I’m prepared or not, it’s happening! With just 19 days to go, it’s time to start listing!

First up on the listing duties? Why the ultimate Boston marathon playlist of course! The ultimate marathon demands the ultimate running playlist and I’m not talking about shoving a few new songs into my “running” playlist. No, this requires a new playlist complete with some of the most motivating, fast-paced, new jams that will help sustain drive and pace. So that’s where I’d love to turn to all of YOU! If you could name your three favorite running jams, what would they be?

Just think, if we all name three (or more), blogland would be the proud new owners of what might be the most incredible playlist ever made. I’ll then be sure to create this playlist and post a link so we can all get our running jams on.

Nota bene: I don’t discriminate. I love myself some Ke$ha and Britney as much as the underground jamz…don’t be shy!

Happy running!

Yessss, I LOVE making playlists for races!

    1. Long way to the top – AC/DC (AMAZING for hills/later on in a race when your body is screaming at you)
    2. All I do is Win – DJ Khaled (OBVIOUSLY)
    3. Lovers in Japan – Coldplay (Amazing for long runs to get you in the groove)

I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Here are a few that kick my pace into second gear, which is a couple gears slower than yours, but maybe it has super-speedy powers I’m not utilizing.

Kevin Rudolph, Lil Wayne: Let It Rock
Miley Cyrus: Party In the USA (can’t beloved I wrote that, but it works, ha!)
Dashboard Confessional: Stolen (Single Version), this one is a slower song, but my fav. band and I always envision running on the beach.

    Cheers.

An absolute must on the Boston marathon playlist would be “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” by Dropkick Murphys. I played it on all my training runs when I was cruising down Boylston Street, and it’s pretty awesome. (You won’t actually want music when you’re really running down Boylston though!)

Then, two other favorites that are on all my mixes are “Hey Soul Sister” by Train and “One More” by Superchick.

Best of luck at Boston! Somehow Marathon Monday just won’t be the same from the west coast.

First of all, I am all about the pop music (especially when running) so I totally support all the mentions of Gaga, Ke$ha, Usher, etc. That said, in an attempt to throw in a few things that I have collected somewhat randomly over the years and that are – to use a running metaphor – farther from the beaten trail:
    -Ace of Base, “Beautiful Life”
-Benassi Brothers, almost anything, but especially “Feel Alive” and “Make Me Feel”
-David Guetta & Chris Wills, “Gettin’ Over You”
    -Paul Oakenfold, “Faster Kill Pussycat”
-Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand, “Let Me Think About It”
    -Tiesto & Diplo, “C’mon”
    -Ian Carey Project, “Get Shaky”

I just heard this driving home yesterday, and I thought of your running playlist, haha

It has already been suggested 4 times above by Katie, Allison, Melissa, Siobhan, but I will 5th the motion to suggest:
More (RedOne Jimmy Joker Remix)- Usher

This song seems like a perfect running song, the song brings the energy from start to finish, I could see this one as being good for the heartbreak hill section when energy and rhythm are key, haha
